Kickstarter Update Day 8

Ok so we're 8 days in and have raised a shade under $3000 so far. I was freaking for a while because things were really SLOW over the weekend but just today it really picked - 5 friends came in and backed the project and we raised over $430!! I guess that's just the nature of these things - the ups and downs - but I can't stress enough how GRATEFUL I am for everyone who's supporting this project - even if it's just preordering the CD!!

This project is my attempt to take my music out to the world and bring my career to the next level. Kickstarter and "crowdsourcing" sites like it allow anyone really this opportunity - you just need to be willing to stick your neck out, lay your ass out on the line and face potential failure. To succeed at this means to be constantly promoting this project (and myself) - things I've been loathe to do in the past -- and be super visible. "It's OK", I keep telling myself, " you're not in that Middle Ages past-life anymore, no one's going to execute you for being too big!!" Because really, I know that God/Spirit/The Universe wants me, and all of us, to thrive and succeed and live in abundance and be living our dreams - so much of the challenge is our part, is meeting Spirit half-way, taking the action, risking the visibility and rejection so that Higher Power can work through us (and other people who want to help). So that's what this process and project is all about, and I feel like the more I stick my neck out, the more acceleration I get, the higher my frequency, towards reaching my goal. I can't tell you how long I've hid from doing this but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

THank you guys again who have supported me thus far, and please if you haven't yet, check out the video in the link below, come on board, and whether you're already a backer or not, KEEP SPREADING THE WORD ABOUT THIS PROJECT!!!
Thank you,
XOXOXOXOXOJonathan

I've Been Kickstarted!!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1690022869/jonathan-greens-debut-cd-the-best-songs-youve-neve?ref=email

I really feel put into gear - this is a wonderful process, this whole project has forced me to get my act together and now I'm reaching out to friends and family, some who I haven't spoken to in a long time.

So basically, in me putting my music out there and asking for support in this "crowd-sourcing" kinda way, it's healing my relationships and bringing me closer to people, and letting them see me in action and as I want to be seen!!

Please, if you haven't seen the video or project homepage, go to the link below..we've already raised 2 grand in 20 hours!!

KICKSTARTER!!!!

http://www.kickstarter.com/profile/1690022869

So it's almost Halloween and Game 7 of the World Series is on TV and I'm finishing final edits on the Kickstarter video and about to launch!! I know that in a few hours so many people are gonna see this thing and so I'm trying to make it as good as I can (and not suck!!). I feel like a lot is on the line - basically the risk public humiliation and pure and abject failure- not to mention a lot of people's making their first impression of me as a musician (and person)- but I feel excited and already grateful for all the energy and excitement this project has caused - my creative juices are flowing in a way I haven't felt for some time! There's nothing like working on a big project and giving yourself a deadline (tonight!!!).

And I love how synchronicity works - in the last couple of days I've run into just about every musician that I was wanting to contact to be on this project - Ben Leinbach showed up on the mat next to me in yoga class, Dan Zemelman in the car behind me in town, Tom Finch on line at the Good Earth grocery store - and all said YES to being a part of this project, to recording and playing out with me in support of this CD. Not to mention how this whole project began - I sat in Cafe Roma in Berkeley waiting for my car to get serviced and sat next to incredible violinist David Balakrishnan (Turtle Island Quartet) and his wife - whose name I'm spacing on -- but who suggested that I do this kickstarter project to raise $$ for my CD. And then David said yes to playing on the project!!

Oh, and if you didn't get it the first time, here's the link to my kickstarter.com homepage; http://www.kickstarter.com/profile/1690022869

So it's been like that, feeling invisible hands - as well as many human ones- guiding me forward on this thing, this journey. And I know that after 40 days (I know, how biblical!!)- the period I'm setting to meet my $10,000 fundraising goal - I will be in a totally different place in my life....so here's to ACTION, to jumping off the cliff of the unknown, to taking risks and trusting that whatever happens is meant to happen. But it can't happen if I don't take action - so here goes......something......

(It's the top of the 9th now, the Cards about to win it all for all of us come-from-behind underdogs!! The baseball season is 3 outs from being over, but it's the beginning of something really big, a different season in my life, the season of the courage, the season of the heart.......)

May we all be fierce and courageous in pursuing our dreams!!!

Back from Joshua Tree and ready to rock!!

Spent 5 days in the gorgeous desert in Joshua Tree at Bhakti Fest, a spiritual music and yoga festival. Feels so expansive and freeing to my soul to be in the desert, and so appealing to my aesthetic sense, the light and the colors, the big sky. And now I am so ready to get a move on recording my songs - I've almost completed 2 new ones w/Jon Jon at Little Buddha and I'm so psyched, it's amazing how I've grown in the 2 years since I first recorded with JJ. I'll soon post at least one of them here, "Do I have to be so Good", which friends who've taken a listen in my car have wanted to buy and say it should be on the radio - so I'm psyched. More to come....

Feeling Light & Inspired & Bringing it to My Music!!

Hey "L'Shana Tovah", Happy Jewish New Year, Happy Fall, Happy Happy!!

Today was a great day, got back to my Jewish roots, fasted and observed Yom Kippur. So much meaning, and grounding, to be had in connecting up and embracing my roots! (Had more than one thought of being like Bob Dylan and converting to Orthodox Judaism...) Felt so light while fasting, picked up my guitar and felt so inspired, re-inspired to make music. Like I've written all these songs, now I've got to breath life into them, and I need to touch into my source to have that inspiration. Otherwise, I feel heavy and playing music starts feeling like a chore. So, as Jesus said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all else will be added unto you' . I'm getting that loud and clear today!

So just a heads-up I'm playing at the Yoga Rocks the Mountain festival at the Redwood Chill Space at Yoga Mountain in Fairfax 12-2 tomorrow so come on by!! Location is 85 Bolinas Rd, Fairfax (yogamountainstudio.com for more info).

Otherwise I'm getting ready to bring me and my music on a 6 week trip to Europe, coinciding with Amma's European tour. I've just designed and ordered a 6 song CD demo (pretty much what's on this site here) to bring with me, plus I'm hopefully reviving or "reissuing" an devotional CD I did for the Amma community 5 years ago called "Bless All Your Children". I'm so excited to be going to Europe and hopefully connecting up with spiritual communities there and sharing my music.

Anyway, I wish you all blessings -- oh, also, I put out a cartoon video parodying the marin scene called "marin meet-up" - its got 6000 views now on youtube - check it out if you haven't already. More to come - hopefully live action -once I'm back.

I'm so grateful to be putting my music and art out in the world - it's times like these I feel closest to God and like I'm doing what I'm here to do...I wish that for you too...

Demo Memo

Hey yeah so I'm finally printing out some of my demos and getting them out! If any of you received one and are wanting to contact me directly try singsongwriter@gmail.com or my cell 415 259 7767. I'm really psyched to going back to NYC and Amagansett for July "pour vacances" and feeling out my next step.. Btw saw a great movie last night, a faux?-documentary called "Exit through the Gift Shop" - totally inspiring about the creative process, street art (Banksy), doing it guerilla, wherever and however you are. It's about going from being a voyeur-of-the-arts to becoming an artist - something I ID with big time. With my music. Just doing what you love, following your heart. So simple. Let's hope we can all remember to follow our hearts at all times!!
BIG LOVE, Jonathan
